Who writes the content
Guides on HowToHurdle are written by Steven Royster, USATF Level 1 Certified Track Coach. Every guide shows its author and dates.
What the content is, and isn’t
- General educational coaching information for athletes, parents and coaches
- Not medical advice, and not reviewed by physicians, physical therapists or athletic trainers
- Not a substitute for an in-person coach who can see the athlete
How specifications are verified
Hurdle heights, spacing and rules are:
- Taken from the governing body’s own published documents (AAU, USATF, NFHS, NCAA, World Athletics), or from association documents that reproduce them where the original isn’t freely published
- Kept separate by organization. Specifications are never mixed between organizations.
- Shown with the source and the date they were last reviewed
- Flagged where sources disagree or where a rule recently changed
If a governing body updates its rules, the specification data, tables and calculator are updated together, and the review date is changed.
Dates
- Published is the date a page was first published on this version of the site
- Updated changes only when the content is meaningfully revised
Equipment and affiliate links
- Equipment is mentioned only where it’s relevant to the training on the page
- Gear guides focus on what to look for, not rankings
- HowToHurdle doesn’t claim products were personally tested unless a page says so
- Affiliate relationships are disclosed. See the affiliate disclosure.
No fabricated content
HowToHurdle does not publish invented testimonials, reviews, athlete results or credentials.
